Movado released the Ermeto Purse Watch in 1926 and continued to manufacture them through 1985, distributing to various design and high jewelry houses. The initial design won the Grand Prix at the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition. The name was derived from the Greek term Hermetic, meaning enclosed to highlight the protective effect of the watch case. This watch is encased in fined textured gold and is the size of the 'Baby Ermeto' initially intended to be carried in ladies' purses!
