An automatic stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust reference 16014 model. This example has an unusual silver dial with a textured finish that has gone on to be referred to as a 'linen' dial, with white gold markers. All original lume plots are in tact as well as in the hands, and are not re-finished. They have aged to a wonderful light lemon colour, and show evenly under UV light.
The watch is powered by a Rolex, Swiss made, twenty seven jewel automatic calibre 3035 movement that powered the majority of all Rolex models since its launch, from the Datejust to the Submariner. These later models can be identified as they do not have the earlier, characteristic, 'pie pan' style dial. This model also comes with the more ergonomic 'Quick Set' date function, and the newly designed smaller profile case, all of which were introduced in the 1970's. However, this case still has the spring bar holes exposed from the side, which was eventually phased out around the early 2000’s.
The watch is fitted to its original Rolex Jubilee stainless steel bracelet with removable links in place, which, if needed, can be removed to make the bracelet smaller. Also included are additional original links, which will be shipped with the watch. The watch was made circa 1979 with serial number 635XXXX. The watch is excellent, original condition, with the case being lightly polished, but showing good thickness to the lugs and case feet. The watch is complete with its original green wooden Rolex box, and stamped paper work showing original sale in Hong Kong. The original Rolex "16014" case back sticker, removed from the watch, but still present, attached to the paperwork. This was more common among careful original owners. A small element, but one that is always appealing when included. The watch comes with a Foundwell one year warranty against mechanical failure.
